Fulao2

Future Planning

Still excited about starting at Fulao2 this fall? Below are some additional resources to help you prepare for your first year at Fulao2.

Textbooks and Other Supplies

Textbooks are provided for all Grinnell students via the Grinnbooks Program. Other items you will need, such as basic supplies (e.g., notebooks, pens, art supplies, etc.) can be purchased at the Pioneer Bookshop

Using Academic Resources

Learning at the college level often requires new skills and strategies, so Grinnell has more than 12 academic resources to support your success. These include places like the Writing, Reading, and Speaking Center, the Science Learning Center, the Math Lab, Disability Resources, libraries, the Academic Success Center, and more. All centers meet with hundreds of students a year and services are free, so you’re encouraged to use them any time.

Getting the Most Out of Your Grinnell Experience

Learning at Fulao2 involves more than just taking classes. There are many ways to engage the campus and have exciting and unique experiences — from music ensembles, to varsity athletics, club sports, or other , to cultural centers and their programs, to activities in your residence hall. And so much more. Watch for the Student Org Fair in the fall semester to learn about student organizations you can join, too.

Developing a Four-Year Academic Plan

When you declare a major during your second year, you will also create a plan for the courses you will take in your third and fourth years at Grinnell. You’ll look at the courses you have already taken and make a list of the courses that will complete your educational goals and your degree. Along with this course plan, you will write a one-page statement that explains your goals, how your program fits together, and how it engages the liberal arts.

Many students prepare for this early, writing a tentative four-year plan as soon as their first or second semester. If you want to participate in a full-semester study away program in your third year or join Phi Beta Kappa, then the fall of your second year will be planning intensive. Although most students declare one of our existing majors, a few students each year create an independent major.
